Flexible Connections

Vibration Isolation and Acoustic Decoupling for Intake and Exhaust Systems

Flexible connections are engineered to isolate vibration, reduce structure-borne noise, and accommodate thermal expansion between mechanical equipment and duct
systems. These connectors are used at both intake/supply and discharge/exhaust points and are essential in HVAC, engine exhaust, fan/blower systems, and high-temperature process piping.
Available in acoustic-grade and high-temperature configurations, flexible connectors are built from multilayer materials— typically EPDM or PTFE—with optional internal insulation for sound attenuation or thermal resistance. Each unit is custom- sized and fabricated in rectangular or circular form, with various connection styles and support features.

Key Features

Vibration and Noise Isolation
Prevents mechanical vibration transfer and reduces airborne noise transmission.

Acoustic and Thermal Options

Acoustic Flexible Connections: Include insulation wrapped in internal mesh, available in EPDM or PTFE

High-Temperature Connections: Built with PTFE layers, high-temp insulation, and stainless mesh or foil inner linings

Versatile Shapes and Materials
Rectangular or circular EPDM for standard HVAC use
PTFE for chemical, high-temp, or harsh environments

Intake and Exhaust Compatibility
Used at fan inlets/outlets, engine exhaust stacks, HVAC ducts, and enclosure penetrations.

Customizable Designs
Flanged, slip-on, or clamped end connections Weather shields, drainage, or insulation jackets Inner flow liners for high-velocity applications

Typical Applications

HVAC supply and return ducts Fan/blower inlets and discharges Engine and turbine exhaust stacks Acoustic enclosure penetrations
Chemical process and scrubber systems Expansion joints in hot air or gas lines

Performance by Design

Flexible connections are built to balance mechanical flexibility, acoustic control, and thermal resistance. Acoustic models use layered insulation and mesh liners to suppress breakout noise, while high-temp versions are rated for continuous operation in extreme thermal conditions.

Acoustic Flexible Connections:
EPDM or PTFE outer shell|
Internal acoustic insulation wrapped in stainless mesh Circular or rectangular designs
Ideal for fan and duct noise reduction

High Temperature Flexible Connections:
PTFE shell with stainless inner lining
Rated for elevated temperatures and chemical resistance Used for hot exhaust or corrosive gas applications

Design parameters include:
System temperature (up to 1000°F+) Flow velocity and duct pressure
Required vibration isolation and noise reduction Connection method and space constraints
These flexible connectors deliver reliable performance in demanding ventilation and exhaust systems—enhancing equipment longevity, acoustic comfort, and system resilience.
